The guy I bought it from last month said it was an "N". Then I thought it was an 8N and posted pictures as such over at the other forum. Then someone saw the picture and said it looked like a TO-35. So I figured I had better look for that serial number and there is was - on a plate behind the steeering wheel that I've looked at about a dozen times - right under Harry Ferguson's autograph.

Anyways, the number is TEA-285564 and it was made in Coventry, England. So can anyone now tell me exactly what I have because there's no TEA link in the serial number section.

Thanks in advance and I look forward to sharing nuggets of information with you all. (Actually, I'll be posting more questions than answers as I'm not only new to tractors but new to country living as well)

Gary

Could you post more pictures of the post hole digger? I am interested in how it is driven.
Thanks,
Jim

Jim

Here's another pic. I've placed several in the Gallery under "1952 TEA 20 with auger I, II & III"

I'm not sure how much you can tell from these, but basically a drive shaft is connected to the PTO by a universal at the bottom and to the auger rotation mechanism by a universal at the top. Downward force is by the weight of the implement itself or by Gary leaning/standing on it.

That is a good looking tractor. The auger is unique as well. If at all possible, do not lean or push on the auger. Sometimes those diggers hit a rock or root and jump around. One slip into the auger could be fatal.

Good Morning in North Bay - I have a TEA-2085 with serial number 289535 The year it was made was 1952. Yours may be a 1951 or a 1950 model year. Others in here will tell you more than I can. They are a great little tractor, But it is a FERGUSON and its a TEA

Never worry about asking questions!

Wow ! What a comprehensive listing of all the Ferguson TE- models. I've often wondered what the various designations of Harry's tractors were. Thanks for the info James/UK.

Jerry/MT I cannot claim the credit for that listing - it is from the Friends of Ferguson website here in the UK.

But thanks anyway :)

Gary, as someone posted earlier it seems to be a TEA 20 not TO35. From the serial number it looks likes a 1948.

Btw careful digging with posthole digger without checking for underground cable locates, I've worked on a project putting fiber optics in that general area in the past and that particular one is expensive to damage.

Just a heads up

Take care and have fun

Norm
