I have an old tractor with a serial number TE 71536. I am not sure what model tractor. The only other information I can read on the ID plate is TE 71536 and the word Coventry. I am trying to purchase parts. I am not sure if this is a TE or TO model. Is there any way to determine?

Its told you on the plate what it is....TE
TE made in Coventry, TO made in Detroit. Just to make sure someone hasnt messed around with the plates, check the metal the gearbox case is made of if its Aluminium its a TE20 if its cast iron its a TO20

Barry
looks like you have a 1948 TE Ferguson, it should have a Lucas ignition system, which means that the starter, generator ,voltage regulator and distributor are all Lucas ,is it still 6volt or has it been converted?,there are a lot of parts that are interchangable with the TO20 but you should get hold of a good parts manual to start with before you start ordering parts.
Good luck
