John, just finished rebuilding the lift cover's components on the T0-30 (had problem with lift not lowering). Everything seems to be working fine except for one thing. Have noticed a tremendous amount of "Swirling" on the backside of pump. Looks like water going down a sink drain. Would this most likely be coming from the safety valve assembly or the pump control valve assembly? Will probably have to drain the oil down to those components to see exactly what is going on. Just thought you may have some forethought as to the most probable cause.

Depends on what you are calling the backside of the pump, if it is the the backside of the tractor too then the valve is at the opposite side, towards the front of the tractor (back of gearbox). Unless you have the linkage prevented from lifting it wont be the relief valve blowing as there will be no pressure unless you have something attached to the linkage and are trying to lift it. It could be the oil around the Control Valve but you can check this by moving the Hydraulic lever to lower or halfway on the quadrant, in that position it wont allow any oil being sucked in so there should be no swirling. Doing this will also stop any oil from the relief valve too. So if the oil movement stops when you do this we then have to find out exactly where it is coming from, the relief valve (at the top) or the control valve(at the bottom on the end of the fork)If it is at the rear of the pump (opposite end to control Valve) it most likely is a blown side chamber gasket or "O" ring (depends on how old it is) You don't actually say if the hydraulics are lifting weight as they should, if they are and not dropping quickly when the engine is off I can only think that this is coming from the Control valve sucking oil. Sorry I can't be more positive about it but as I said earlier it depends on which end of the pump it is coming from, I would need to know that to be more definite about it. If you want to describe it more please email me at:- fergusontractors at tiscali dot co dot uk
and I can send more info and pictures to you so you can see exactly what is in there.

Thanks John. I will be getting in touch with you. Haven't checked it with heavy implement attached. Raises and lowers fine otherwise. Need to perform other checks as described..
