Have a TEA-20 tractor.. IT has a three wire delco alternator on it and 12 volt coil. starter is original and also the voltage regulator I believe. Tractor has a 12 volt battery and negative ground.

I have been burning up coils ever since I have had the alternator rebuilt.

Is there a kit or collection of parts that I can purchase that I can rewire this tractor to have a single wire alternator with 12 volt system. Can someone furnish a suggested wiring diagram. I have lights on the back and front. Its a great little tractor but it is hell on coils. Thanks for the help.

Hi bjohn
If the thought of taking the alternator apart bothers you, do what I did. I took mine to a place here in Ontario the does nothing BUT starters and alternators, it cost me $90( Canadian ) to have it rebuilt. She works great, no more dead batteries

Converting to a one wire alternator is pretty easy; the biggest challenge is usually mounting it and finding a wide pulley but you may have most of this solved already since you already have an alternator.
Check the website below for wiring diagrams.
Going through coils is mysterious, unless you are using 6 volt coils or 12 volt coils that require ballast resistors, without them.
