Pardon my ignorance as I have no past experience with these tractors. The plate on the dash reads TO-10-3461 and imprinted on the steering houseing it has TO 3550. This has a 4 cyl. gas continental motor Z-129 4spd trans. What model is it? Also it has a 12 volt generator with a positive gnd. is this correct?

Usually when they were converted to 12 volts they were also converted to negative ground. I have only seen one other one that was converted to 12 volts positive and that one didn't charge the battery correctly. As John said they were originally six volts positive. Not sure why the person who converted it didn't make it negative. Check if coil and voltage regulator are 12 volts. Starter doesn't care. Does ammeter show positive charge of about 3-5 amps? Put volt meter on battery when running and see what the charge is. should be about 14 volts.

The serial number you give (TO103461) is a 1953 TO30, the other number is cast into the part and that is just a casting number for the steering column housing. It looks as though it has been converted to 12volt as they were 6 volts originally, but from your point it will be much better. All the TO20's and 30's were 4 speed plus reverse. No need to be excused for asking a question, that is what this site is all about...just ask if you don't know, anytime.
