Well, the TO35 arrived today, I enjoyed puttering around immensely. Even did a bit of brush hogging, though some of it resembled plowing (from the sides of the hog, not the blade)...clearly have some learning to do there.

Looking around the machine, there's not a ton to do right away. Change fluids, a gasket or two, new tach cable, oil gauge, and the PTO seal. The previous owner doesn't think it's charging, but I saw + amps on the gauge. Saturday is my day for really delving into things, so I'll put a volt meter on it then.

The seat is definitely detracting from the look of a machine which already is challenged in the looks department, so I'd like to change that. And I'd like to replace one of the rear hubs so they match, though that can wait.

I'd like to find a pair of Ferguson headlamps for it, and a seat, and a steering wheel, and some paint, and, and, and...

If you follow the link, there's a couple more photos, nothing too exciting.

A question: I can't find a listing at any online parts place for a tach cable for this machine. It's serial #166380 and they only list cables for machines above a mid-200's serial number. I assume they're the same thing?

Another question: When ordering an oil gauge, does it generally include the line, which is what broke on my original (hence the extra guage on the side)?

Thanks, all. Just tell me to get lost if this incessant blathering is boring!

Just go to eBay and type in "Ferguson 35" in the search box. Most of the things you will need are for sale at some point during the month (seats, steering wheel, headlights). As for the tach cable...I had the same issue with serial number and length. I THINK you need the shorter cable. Do you have a MF dealer nearby? If so, they can order it (under $20). Good luck!

Welcome Roger;
Do a search for tractormeter cable on this forum. As I recall, the drive cables come in two lengths for that tractor.
Don't know about the oil guage, but I imagine they can be packaged with or without sending unit?
If you haven't already done so, I strongly suggest getting the manuals for your tractor.
Good luck and have fun!

Congradulations, Nice looking -35.

I just reposted my trans/oil changeing procedure a day or so ago. When you get to that point, be prepared to change the PTO seal etc. while you have the fluid out. A trick to the PTO seal is to get a 2" PVC tube coupler. This is the right diameter to catch the seal ridge and using a vice you can drive the new seal home without binding it.

As for seats, steering wheel, lights etc. These items come up on e-bay quite often. Also consider joining FENA or at least ordering Ferguson Furrows Issues #9 and #20. #9 covers all things about the lights. (lights, wiring and clips etc.) #20 has the paint scheams and painting tips.

Welcome to the club.
