I am having problem with my to 30 circulating water. I have a temp gauge order. I have notice the water not moving in the radiator. Water flows easy though the radiator and block when using a water hose. I have taken the water pump off and everything seems to be OK. The impellors ar not curved. Just 4 square bumps sticking out. It looks like it churns the water instead of circulating it. Does the water flow from the top of the block through the pump out the bottom to the radiator and pushed up the radiator to the top tank than backback to the top of the block through the goose neck????? My guess is even though radiator flows good with a water hose, maybe it still needs to be taken to the shop and rotted out??
Open to suggestions.

Also, check the fins on the radiator. Mine were clogged and I could hear the water boiling.

The water flows out of the bottom of the radiator, through the pump, through the block cooling jacket, up through the head and out through the coolnt elbow to the top of the radiator. As the pump suction pulls it down through the radiator core, the air pulled in through the fan cools the coolant and then it goes back through the pump and the cycle repeats continuoisly. If you are hearing boiling, make sure that you have a pressure cap on the radiator and that it's working correctly. If the cap doesn't hold pressure you'll boil the coolant at a much lower temperature than if the cap holds pressure. The higher the pressure setting on the cap the higher the boiling point temperature. I believe the original cap was a 4 psi and the replacements are 7 psi , but don't hold me to that. Check with your nearest MF dealer or search the archives.

4 psi is the correct spec. but 7 psi is an alternative for hot conditions.

why do you think you have a problem? is it over heating?. just for the h of it i went out and started all 5 of my to-20s pulled cap and not one had any water movement 3 have stats in 2 don't. if it's not over heating what are you worried about?

After I have ran it for a short period (15 min.) I can hear the water boiling.

Water flows from bottom of block to top, then into top of radiator. Flows down through radiator and back into engine.
Most water pumps are simple vanes - by pushing water outwards, it is forced to flow in the direction required. If water is not circulating, its a 99% chance thermostat is closed - probably because water is not up to temp.

If your not seeing any water circulation it could very well be your thermostat stuck closed. Untill the thermostat opens it will not allow water to circulate.
