My TE-20 is stuck in 1st gear. I unbloted the two nuts and took the shifter off and it seems OK. The shifter moves as usual, as though normally selecting gears but it doesn"t actually alter the transmission. The PTO works fine. I have in the past experienced a misaligned gear shift lever and it"s definetly not that. Can anyone help?

apart from stuttering sending that last mail I should have said make sure that there is nothing broken off the ends of the fork, as they can look ok but can still be broken and not moving the gear. Have you tried moving the gear by hand or is it still stuck even if you gently prise it.

It sounds as though you have a broken 1st and 2nd gear selector, you can get a new one from BareCo in Australia or one of their outlets. The part number is B7085, you can check this here:-

it does mean the gearbox being removed from the tractor and the rear axle though. If you need information on how to go about doing this work, email me at:- fergusontractors at tiscali dot co dot uk
and I will send you the information you need.
