Howdy,
I was wondering if any of y"all could help me with a paint question. What is the paint code for the gray paint used on TO 20 tractors. I believe it is an M something but not sure. Any info would be greatly appreciated. God bless.

It is my opinion that there is no correct shade of grey paint for a T20 tractor. When the T20 was built the UK was awash with ex Admiralty battleship grey paint, made by many different factories, all slightly different shades, some of which found their way into the Banner Lane factory. To have a good looking tractor, buy enough of the same grey paint to paint the whole tractor and keep some for touching up.

The story about the battleship paint is a myth that has been bandied around for years, but is totally incorrect, you can buy the correct shade as tried and tested from MF. It is easier now to get the correct shade using a spectrometer and a computer controlled mixer than it was when they did it all more or less by hand. All colours of paints vary in their shades that is why when you buy paint for decorating at home you make sure that it is from the same batch. I was reliably informed that grey is a particularly bad colour to match anyway for some reason. There is no such thing as a T20 it is either a TE20 or a TO20 it can be confusing saying T20 on this website. I know they are doing it more and more in the UK but it is still not correct it can create confusion.

Howdy folks,

Thanks for the help. The paint question was actually from a customer of ours (I work parts in a case/new holland/agco dealer). I did some more looking and found a NAPA number that many use to replicate the old Ferguson Gray. Thanks again for your help. God bless.

Dupont # 652 enamel is close. From what I have read not all Fergys were the same grey. Cloise but not exact.

Hi,

All the paint codes for major paint manufacturers are listed on the FENA web site at fergusonenthusiasts.com

It is very comprehensive and should answer all questions you may have. If not, email me and I'll see what I can do.
