I just bought a small 3-point backhoe attachment for my TO-20. It fit right on and works good but is kind of shaky on the 3-point hitch. It is not mounted solid enough to lift the back of the tractor and move it around with the backhoe boom. It also seems like it would be very rough on the 3-point hitch especially where the top link attaches to the spring on the tractor. I would like to build a small frame to fit under the tractor, maybe attaching it on the bottom of the axles under the fender mounts and at some other point(s) so that the backhoe would be solidly attached to the tractor without using the 3-point hitch. Has anyone else done anything like this and could maybe post some pictures of it. It is much eaiser to build one after having looked at some than dragging it out of my head from the start. Any input and any ideas would be very much appreciated. Terry

I bought a Woods T 310 and attached it to my 65 model John Deere 2010 3 point. I noticed this tractor has a tendency to break the down link attachment so I fabricated a heavier one from 1/2" steel, but like you I have problem with damage to the down link supplied with the hoe and the attachment I fabed stretching the pin holes and bending pins, I intend to beef up and bushing them to make them tighter. My loader, JD 760, has places to attach a hoe frame, so if I can figure out how to bend 5" channel or a couple of pieces of 2"x4" boxed steel pieces I may attempt to fab one. My tractor steers much nicer with the hoe on back. Good luck.

Here is a link to look at>Link
He>Link shows a bracket on one of the pages. I am thinking of building my own hoe with the kelley specs and mounting. Do you have any precautions or ideas. Do you like this hoe. Thanks, Joe

I have a Kelley 30 backhoe on the rear of my to30. It weighs about 1200 lbs. I have used it for several years without problem and it's mounted on the 3pt. It is not a solid attachment like a real hoe on a construction tractor, but works very well for me. I can push the tractor ahead with it or easily pull it back when I lift the stabilizers. I've never used a "real" hoe rig so I probably don't realize how loose it really is on the 3pt, but I haven't found it to be a problem. I cannot lift the rear of the tractor with it, haven't ever found a need to do it. Wouldn't think it would be healthy pushing up on the two lifter rods anyway. They're designed to be pulled, not pushed. The tractor is a little light on the front wheels but so much the better for my bucket !!! If you've got your 3 pt chains snug so the arms don't wobble side to side badly, it'll work fine.
