I just got through rebuilding my MH-50 and i took the rear axles out and replaced the seals. Now that i have it back together i can hear a poping noise when i rock the tractor back and forth while the engine is off and its in gear. It acts as if the rear axles are loose. I made my own gaskets for the rear axles. My question is, What does it sound like to yall and could i have used to thick of gasket paper and made it loose? I put a gasket between the brake backing plate and axle housing and i put a gasket where the axle bolts on. Please Help!

What I experienced may or may not be your problem. I had popping from what I thought was a bad rear axle bearing. After carefull listening, I retighten the bolts that hold the tire rims to the wheel. Case solved. Good luck

Nitro I don't know much about the MH 50 but my TO-30 calls for the gasket thickness of .008" to .012" thick. If yours is set up the same way and you didn't check the end play of the axles then the carrier and axle bearings are too loose. There are shims in the axle bearing end of the trumpet housing. Install one side and then shim the other side to adjust both axle bearings. There is no adjustment on the carrier bearings unless you shim behind the bearing cup in the trumpet housing or change gasket thickness.

Yeah, I took out some shims when i put it back together. I didnt use them because i noticed that the gasket i was using was thicker than the one that came out. And then last night i was looking through the manuel and saw that it only required one gasket and i put two in it. My wife always said that i should read the directions first. Guess she's right on this one.lol Anyway thanks for the help and i will be posting a pic by tomorrow. THX zac
