Is this a TO-35 or a Massey Ferguson?

In my search for my first tractor, a utility tractor for mowing, a little gravel work and tilling, I have come across a tractor that the owner refers to as a "Massey 35". He says it is probably from the 1960's. It is a 4 cylinder gas tractor. The name plate on the dash says Ferguson TO-35 then the serial # which I remember to be in the 150,000 range. This tractor has been repainted gray and red and is a very nice working machine. All the dash gauges work (2800 hours).
What little research I have done (such as finding this web site) would indicate it is in fact a Ferguson 35 probably a 1955 model.
Would this machine be worth $4000?
Even though I have been looking at some more expensive and newer tractors I have just been intrigued by this one. Thanks for your help.

Bob, it appears that the tractor in question is in fact a 1955 Ferguson TO-35. SN's for 1955 bsgan at 140006 and ran through 167156. If your hydraulic system, engine, transmission, clutch, and tires are in reasonably good shape, $4000 would be a fair price in this part of the country. The original colors for this tractor were green and gray. If you want more paint information, contact me by e-mail.

Are replacement parts difficult to obtain for this model?

Hi, I am currently rebuilding what sounds to be about the same tractor. I am having the engine completly rebuilt. To answer your question, parts are fairly easy to find but they do make a surprisingly large dent in the wallet. The only parts I haven't been able to find for my tractor was a hood emblem and latch.

Rob, I was at a tractor show on Saturday and saw these hood emblems available through the following company: Tractors, Implement, Parts Salvage(TIPS)1-800-545-9967

Paul,
I guess you don't really care about availability in Australia, but I have a slightly later model Ferguson 35 diesel. I am about to replace the tractometer and cable - no worries AU$75 & AU$20 respectively. So you shouldn't have too much of a problem.

Note also that if you look at the serial numbers there were a few thousand that were produced in 1955 so second-hand parts should also be possible to find (although I'm betting there will be a few thousand rusting in paddocks - as was farmers-of-old want)
