I had the exact same problem. When I raised the mower all the way up, the shaft would bind against the front of the deck. This only would happen if I extended the top link, to take advantage of the draft control. I attributed the problem with my overrunning clutch. this clutch extends the PTO, thus moving the U Joint closer to the deck, thus causing less clearance for the deck and the shaft. I guess one solution would be to use an overrunning clutch that does not extend the PTO, OR shorten up the top link, and use limiter chains for height control.

Paul: I have the same problem when the hog is raised;(hitting the mower deck, I had to use an adapter for the pto shaft size to hog) I'll check the top lenght; could you explain the limiter chains for the low setting, because I look back and the hog will be cutting too low and I find myself adjusting up and down across the field, so you should see how the field looks!!! Thanks Gene in La.
