I put a complete hydraulic pump kit with new valve chambers in a 8N Ford. I know this is a Ferguson site ( I also have a TO-20 ). After installing it , it won,t do anything. I believe everything is assembled properly. I pulled the side cover off and checked it with the engine running and PTO engaged I have no leaks as I can tell. The factory ferguson manuel says a possible cause is an air lock in the pump side chambers, but it doesn,t tell how to bleed it. Doe's anyone know this procedure? Thanks for your help.

Just slacken off the screw on top of each side chamber, one at a time with the engine and PTO running, that will expel any air in the pump. Not often it requires that doing...have you got the correct grade of oil in there? 15W-30 or GL1 90W

John(UK) Are you refering to the bolt that holds the caps for the valves or the plug on the side? I'm useing GL190W oil.

The bolts that hold the caps on the top, there is one each side....The oil is ok, just checking as some do put all kinds of obscure grades in there at times.

Are you sure you want to put your hands in there with the PTO engaged and the engine running? Doesn't sound too safe to me!

You don't put your hands inside, they are just in front of you sat on top of the pump when you take the inspection covers off. All you do is slacken them off with a wrench, that is the only thing that goes inside, no need for fingers or hands. All moving parts are a couple of inches below this point.
