I have a nice old TO-20 that was repainted at some point a red color. I have painted the sheetmetal back to gray.

The engine and running gear are all oily and have caked on grease and dirt. I wondered what the best way to clean this is. Can I use a pressure washer for example, or should I just start the long process of doing it by hand. I don't want to take it all apart.

Advice?

I pressure washed my TO-20 from the rear up to the engine block when I painted mine. Didn't have any problems. I did start mine up when I was done and ran it a while to heat everything up real good and drive around to make sure I didn't have any water in the clutch.
My powerwash uses cold water, so I scraped off the heavy caked-on junk first, sprayed everything down with a couple cans of engine block cleaner, let it soak, then powerwashed. Worked good.

I have a TEF20 diesel version over here in the UK, I washed mine with a heated pressure washer, and to my suprise it fired up straight away after washing! No probs!
If yours is a petrol, or parrafin version, you might want to cover some of the electicals before washing first!
