PTO Shaft Size

When measuring the size (Diamater) of the PTO shaft do you measure the inside of the groves or out side of the groves, Can't figure out if mine on the TO-20 is 1 1/8 or 1 /3/8. I measure the inside I get 1 1/8 out side the groves I get 1 3/8 Thanks Albert

I had never thought about where the measurement on the shaft was made. I always assumed that 1 1/8 was used on the TO20's and 30's and switched to 1 3/8 on the TO35's and up.

now that i went to the shed and dug up an old shaft and measured it ,John has answered and correctly as usual . Grin ,Grin Danny

good to hear you smiling again.anyway you should see my hands at the kitchen table after i ripped open the greasy wrapping that i keep an old beat up 1 1/8 pto shaft ,for what i dont know ,but you never know when these things come in handy
