John, hello and thanks for the info about my TED20.
Several other questions:
1) My air cleaner has a cap at the top with slots/fins for the air to enter, when the bottom base is removed the mesh is exposed but cannot be removed as it is part of the body. Have you seen this type and how to clean?
2) The oil filter has no bolt at the base of the round canister but only a bolt at the head end, all the books show the reverse, again have you seen and best way to remove the canister and element.
The local dealers not seen this style.
Your comments would be appreciated.
Kindest regards,
Allan

Hi Allan, The only way to clean that air filter is to remove it from the tractor and leave it soaking for a day or so (to make sure) in TVO if you are running on that or dare I say petrol/gas. Well you can use anything that will soften that oil and grit in there and then wash it out with anything you have to hand, even a hose pipe or pressure washer, but let it drain thoroughly and dry out, you can refit it to the tractor while it does that if you wish, just don't fit the oil pan till it is dry.
That oil filter was fitted for a while from eng no. S26,001E up to S228,012E on the TVO engines. It is shown in my parts list on page 83 parts list number 819-167M1. To dismantle it, simply unscrew the long bolt at the top and knock the canister with your hand as no doubt it will be stuck to the sealing ring, there is nothing else holding it. It should come loose with a knock and drop down, be aware of the flat plate at the bottom end of the oil filter element that you don't throw it away with the old filter element as usually they stick to it. If you would like a copy of the parts list for the filter email me at:- fergusontractors at tiscali dot co dot uk
and remind me what you need as I will have slept by then and forgotten.lol...John

John, thanks.
Is there any filter medium under the top cap in the air cleaner? Mine has the top cap just held by the single screw, no filter!
Regards,
Allan

No Allan, nothing inside that cover, just keep the little vents clean too when you change the oil.
