10 - 15 minutes ago I pulled the head off, on my tractor I mean.

Cyl. 2, recessed, and leaking into the cylinder. I have no idea why I did not see any white smoke when it was running earlier.
The other cylinders, well, they are not too high, maybe the could have been higher too.

Head bolts uneven tightened, quite a bit uneven.

Liners, well, here comes the surprice of the decade for me at least. Either this engine have been rebuilt, fairly recently, or the engine has something between 1000 and 2000 hours, not a minute more. Or, the liners on these tractors wears extremely little.

The ridge on the top of the liner is so small, I have never opened a used engine and seen any less before. We are talking about perhaps 0.05 mm. But, cyl. liner 2 will have to be taken out and honed, because of the water that has been present there. There is no corrosion, but it has shadows there, and will benefit a lot from a hone, and I suppose the correct thing is to replace the rings too.

I must admit that I am not feeling down because of this.

Bill: with the Quality of todays motor oils, the wear of our great engines can be very little,I have seen very little wear of a well maintained engine, even with Thousands of hours on it.I started useing Mobil 1 Oil (15w-50) in my TO-35 back in 1989,and I will never live long enough to have to rebuild this engine,(It has never been apart)I had the valve cover off last year to adjust valves, and it looked brand new inside!

Hm... that sounds strange... so little wear, and so many years. Well well, with this wear the liners will at least last 57 more years, and then the tractor will be 114 years old... :-)

My hat of for Harry Ferguson. :-)
