My son in law has a TO20. He is looking into a 3 point wood splitter sold by TSC. It would operate off a rear SCV. Tist tractor has no SCV. My question is can a SCV be added. If so does anyone know what I would have to do? The next question is does this tractor have the hyd. capacity to operate the wood splitter? Thank you for any help.

It does have enough pressure to operate a wood splitter but not a big oil flow so it may complete the cycle quite slowly, it will depend on the size of the ram on the splitter. You can fit a pipe with a coupling to the Hydraulic Pump base, this is directly below the seat at the bottom of the centre housing, it is square and has the large drain plug in the centre. The pipe should be coupled into the plug in the oil gallery on the rear left (or front right if there is one on yours) corner, the thread size is 1/2" x 20 TPI.use a good sealing washer, similar to the one on the plug that you remove and be careful tightening it in to the Pump as this is white metal and you could strip the threads, but it will tighten without any problem. If you do get a leak at this point you need a proper sealing washer, don't tighten it to try and stop it. Don't use sealing tape, there is no need with a proper sealing washer. Fit the adaptor in the pump then attach a short length of pipe/hose and then couple your splitter to that. If you wish to discuss this in more detail, mail me at:-

John explained how to get it to work so will tell you a TO 20 will split wood quite nicely running a 4"cyl. I have a small cyl. for the return stroke to speed things up. I also made a telescoping device that I drop a bolt in to hold the lift arms down, up or in the middle. Will keep one person reasonably employed. Have been using mine for 30 years and every year it seems to cycle faster. Happy New Year!
