John, good morning.
Re: TED20. From idle to the engine starts to increase speed takes about 40-50 degrees arc of the throttle lever (approx 3-4"), simply nothing happens while the lever is being rotated through this band.
Is there an adjustent on the linkages to take up this play?
Regards,
Allan

Well its good evening here as I write this Allan.
Can you see where the slack in the linkage is? Is it in the throttle rod under the dash panel or in the vertical rod on the governor linkage, those are the two usual places. If it is the throttle rod under the dash panel it will be a job of replacing the rod and joints. If it is in the vertical rod, are you certain you have the adjustment correct or is the spring stretched and not pulling on the governor lever. Did I send you the information for setting the governor linkage,(I can't find any trace of that) if not mail me at:-
fergusontractors(at)tiscali.co.uk and ask me for it. It is possible that the springs are stretched and are too long now. The governor spring (the one on the vertical rod) should be 3.8" inside the hooks and should not have gaps between the coils, if it has, it has been overstretched and will require replacing.
