Ivan (Aikidoforever),
I am located just outside Courtland ON but work in London. I need to obtain parts for my '52 TEA20. What John Deere dealer are you dealing with? Is it Huron Tractor?
Ron

Chuck,
Can't find these parts in the Sparex Catalogue but I'll check other sources and let you know. I am not too familiar with this switch but have looked into removing mine to clean the contacts and rewire. John (UK) sent me a diagram of the switch and instructions for removal etc. One thing that is in the instructions is a note to tie the linkage from the switch to the rail with a piece of wire or string to prevent it from dropping down into the housing before pulling the pin. I guess if you don't tie off the linkage it will fall down into the transmission housing. Could this have happened? Check with John, I may be speaking out of turn here.
Ivan, I'm interested in talking to you when it warms up to get some pointers on redoing my hydraulic system. I have a short video on doing the Ford 9N & 8N which are very similar. Doesn't look too complicated if you know what little tricks are involved. Talk to you later to get some of your tricks.
Ron

Hey Ivan,
Thanks, I drive by Huron tractor to and from work. I am also very new at this tractor stuff. I have a TEA 20/85 that somebody tried to rewire and replaced parts with American parts (Delco Remy) instead of the Lucas parts, disconnected the gear shift starter switch among other things. It won't charge the battery now so with the help of John, I am deciding what parts have to be replaced and then will redo the wiring. After that, I have a few leaks to fix in the rear end ie. my hydraulics won't stay up if I shut off the PTO or turn off the tractor indicating that I have a leak. Following that, I haven't decided what I'll do next. While I use the tractor for plowing snow and cutting grass in a field, it's a hobby and I just want to have some fun. Now that I know your around, I may ask for some help now and then. Got an email address? Again, thanks for the info and keep in touch.
Ron

Need '54 TEA 20 Starter linkage in reply to Ron CDN, 02-27-2006 14:43:27
I'm looking for the plunger and rocker linkage for the gear shift start on my '54 TEA20. Mine was missing when I took it apart for a restoration. Any leads? Thanks

Hey Ron,

I picked up a 51' TEA20 (2085) just before Christmas and started fixing her up. Currently my tractor is sitting in my garage in pieces. Well, I've got my hydraulic pump, top cover and fork assemble in pieces, and pto shaft removed. I've also got both rear wheels off, both break drums removed and my rear right axle trumpet removed. So, if you need help regarding this stuff I might be able to guide you a bit. I've been thinking about re-wiring, or at the very least fixing up the "gear starter" so perhaps we could help each other. I've got lots of other things that I will attack once I finish up what I've got on the go now.

So, from Courtland you drive into London and past Huron Tractor? I bet that you drive past my house every time.

Here's my email, if you want to chat:

ykla@xplornet.com

Talk to you later,

Ivan

Hey Ron CDN,

Yeah, Huron Tractor is the place. I"ve been dealing with a parts guy named Peter. Really nice guy. Their number is 285-2652.

So, you got a 52 TEA20? What are you doing to it? I"m new at the tractor rebuild stuff, but am learning fast thanks to John (UK). Really loving it. Courtland eh? I use to work in Tillsonburg, Norwich, Simcoe, Delhi...

Good luck.

Ivan
