The TO35 I purchased last Aug. needed quite a bit of TLC, but is now running real good. One of the minor things I fixed was the center pop-up section of the hood which opens to reveal the Gasoline tank filler cap etc. I just noticed, however, that the main hood must have had some latch mechanisms on each side below the instrument panel. Does anyone know what they look like and if they could be fabricated at home. I have a welder and metal bender and am willing to tinker with it if it is feasible to make them. Apicture or diagram would help. Otherwise I need to know where the latch mechanisms can be purchased.

HI Bob;
JIC you still need the info:
180 654 M1; Rod, hood latch
355 583 X1; Nut, 5/16" NF Wing
Use a washer under the wingnut.

Roger,
Sincere thanks for hour help. Until I can order the part I was able to fabricate a couple of the rods from a muffler clamp u-bolt which I cut in half and even found a couple of wing nuts to fit. I am one of those people who rarely throw anything away so I can usually find a few spare parts to use for my fix-it projects.

Hi Bob;

The tractor parts manual shows what they look like and where they go. I don't have the manual with me right now, but I can look it up later today and repost with the part number. I got mine from the local MF dealer.

They are appr. 7-8" long and look like at long carriage bolt (minus head) with a "S" shape curve at one end, and threaded end rotates into slots under dash and a wing nut (one on each side) tightens to snug down hood. I've made them from "all thread" and from long carriage bolts.
-It would help to have just one correct one to use as a template.
They can be purchased from this web site:
on left column, go to "tractor parts"(under Market place) --select ferguson, to 35, then sheetmetal.--they are called hood latches. Send me an email, I can send a pic from part manual. Mark

Hi Mark,
I was telling Roger that I was able to fabricate the hood bolts from spare parts I had in my shop. The new latches work fine but I noticed a 1/4" hole on each side of the hood at the back bottom corner near where the latchs are. Are they a part of the latch assembly? I can sight right through from one side of the tractor to the other through these holes.

Thanks for the help. I'll look in the parts section. I may even try to fabricate them. Your description was real clear. After looking at the hood and hole locations it all makes sence.
