I found a Hobbs hour meter which seems to be an original and it runs. My question is "Where was it mounted on a Ferguson 30 or does it matter?? I am trying to keep the tractor in original configuration is the reason for my question.

Phil(WA) On my TO20 the hour meter is where the airinlet is on your 30. The parts manual does not tell which guage goes where but I would guess that it goes on the lft side by the amp guage. Where did you find your guage??? You might ask someone to post a pic of their restored 30 instrutment panel for a better visual. LOL BobH1640

Bob, my Hobbs hr meter is already mounted in a small angular bracket which doesn't seem to fit on the dash very well. It would have to be mounted under the dash which would be ok but then subject to bumping with my knee or foot when leaving the tractor. All original instrument spaces are used for ammeter, temp, and oil pressure so no spot unless dash is modified. I got my meter from a friend who specializes in Ferguson collecting and restoring. He didn't know if there was a special spot or one just found one that he liked. Never have seen one installed in all the tractor shows I have been to. My parts book does not even show this meter as an option but the wiring diagram does show it(dotted lines)

I have a 54 TO 30 that has a broken 6volt hobbs meter on it. I was able to find a similiar one on ebay with the clock style mechanism.

Good luck.

Here is a combination tach/hourmeter at the link HERE. It is not a direct replacment for a Hobbs but gets good reviews from those at this site. It has a self contained battery source and is multi-function.

Also, below, JCWhitney has a round meter that looks just like on of the the Hobbs (maybe made by them - Honeywell now, I think) and works 4-40V DC

There is a YTMAG article on this installation HERE The JCWHITNEY link is HERE.
