Ive got a TED20 and the other day started to miss fire and smoke badly when running especially when running on TVO. I have found 1 pot not firing and changed the lead and spark plug we have a good spark but does not seem to igniting the fuel.
Any views please?
I was thinking exhaust valve burnt/stuck.

Have you got the correct plugs fitted. They should be Champion N21 or N7 set to .035", they are long reach type, they must be this plug or equivalent, no other will do. Set points to .012" on 6v or .015" on 12v. You should do a compression test as Gerard suggested, you can check the valve adjuster screws in case one has come slack. Inlet .010"/ Exhaust .012" Are you certain the Octane rating of your "TVO" is high enough (is there enough petrol in the mix)are you running it hot enough? thermostat should open at 75 - 85C not less than that. Is the shaft bearing in the Distributor worn allowing the shaft to move from side to side as it could do this while the engine is running and may be misfiring due to that.

Thanks chaps but i found the cause, looks like it is down oil dilution, the tractor has not been hot enough when switched to TVO. New plugs, oil and cleaned out fuel system and she goes like a dream. Need to get a new temp gauge too.
