Hi all!

I'm having trouble with my t0-20's pto engaging. At times, like right now, the lever you push to engage the pto, will NOT budge. I'm totally hosed right now, be cause w/o the pto turning, the lift arms won't work...BTW, is this right?..... . That the lift doesn't work unless the pto is engaged?

TIA

Jeremy

It does sound like a twisted PTO shaft, this runs through the centre of the Pump. This is caused by letting the clutch in too fast and it snatches at the transmission. What appears to be happening from what you say is that the sliding dog that the lever moves cannot slide along the shaft. If this is the case the tractor will need splitting to get at it.

The TO-20 does not have "live" power. Thus the PTO must be engaged to run the lift.

You can take the inspection plate off and look at the PTO lever to make sure it is free. I have one where the PTO lever is frozen. You can then inspect he PTO engagement gear and make sure the PTO lever is properly engaging the gear when you put it back together.

This is quick and simple just remove the 6 bolts on the inspection plate.

Obviously the clutch needs to be fully depressed when you try to engage the PTO. If the clutch is not fully depressed you cannot engage the PTO when the engine is on.

Yes.. the fergy sys. uses a belly pump that is pto powered. Try engaging it, and if it doesn't do in, let the clutch ot and then press again and check. The colalr may not have aligned just right / and-or your splined coupling collar may have some burs / pto shaft ned may be a bit deformed / twisted.. etc..
