Hello everyone, I am looking for assistance once again. I am working on a 1954 TO30. I am trying to get my governor linkage back together but I am missing the link that attaches the compensating spring to the gov. linkage rocker. I talked to a gentleman in my area who works on Fergusons and he said there never was a link. In the parts book that I have it shows the link, Part #181 533 M1 and replaces TO-9803, so I am pretty sure that there was a link. If any of you have the link on your tractor, if you would post the dimensions of it (length, hole sizes and spacing) I would greatly appreciate it. Or if any of you know of a source for the link that would be great as well. Sorry for the long post but I wanted to make sure I gave the details of what I was looking for. Thank you all for your help. John(Ohio)

John, you won"t believe this, but I came here to ask that exact same question. I have tried to make a straight bracket to accommodate the spring but it binds against the shaft. By putting that little crook in the bracket it will clear the shaft. Now the spring will be the right length with the right tension and everything should work well. I love this site!!!

Glad to have been of help.. I know I mentioned 0.185 as the thickness; it was probably just 3/16 plate.. See posts below for pics if you haven't seen them yet... Jim

Hi Jim, That is it exactly. Thank you so much. I know I can make that and then I can get my governor to work. Thanks again.

Jim,
This is the sort of thing that makes you a true asset to this forum. Lots of Ferguson owners will do well by making sure that this compensator link and spring are in place so that their throttle and governor will operate properly. I fought the throttle creep and governor surge problem for years before I decided that maybe I should attach a spring to the link that was dangeling from the throttle rod. After I did, my my throttle problems were cured.
Thanks, again Jim.

Thank you for the flowers! Which also reminds me to tell everyone that if you have interest in the pictures that I post (now or in the future), then you should right click on them and save them to your own computer. I often do not use the YT site picture gallery because they seem to get resized and are often hard to read so I use other places, but when my storage limits are exceeded, I clean out the old to make room for the new. Hopefully it will be there for a few months though. Jim

I have a '54 TO-30 and I'm not sure I have that link on the governor linkage. I know I have a compensator spring and it's hooked up. I'll go out and check and let you know what I found later in the day.

Thanks Jerry, I would really appreciate that. I ordered a replacement spring because mine wasn't there, it is the correct part number but it isn't long enough to reach without the link. From the way it looks in the parts book, its just a flat piece with hole in one end for the spring and a larger hole in the other to attach to the curved rocker.
Thanks again,
John(Ohio)
