How many quarts over filled is the system if the level is 1 1/2" over the FULL mark? Could this be the reason the brake drums are oozing? Does this ruin the axle seals? Thanks All.

It is as Jerry has said. It doesn't ruin the axle seals it just overloads them and they can't keep the oil where it should be, it will ruin the brake linings though. When you fill the transmission with oil, from empty it is easy, 24 quarts and that is it. no need to check. You have probably found out it does take a while to level out and you think there isn't enough in it so you add more, you just aren't leaving it long enough to level if you are topping up.

Not being a mind reader, I don't know what model tractor you are referring to. So It's hard to give you ananswer. However, if it's a TO-20 or TO-30, 1-1/2 inches above the full mark is probably enough to leak out of your axle seals. For the aforementioned tractors, the full level is oil just coming out of the lower bolt hole on the transmission case access cover. If you are over that by 1-1/2 inches, you are way overfilled.
