I wanted to thank everyone who for the past year have given me advice and help on restoring a 1956 or 1957 TO-35 (no # plate).

My brother-in-law's family bought it used and farmed with it from 1962 until 1984. It then sat behind the barn until last year. It still had some green on the body so I think I got the year right.

My land is really hilly so I put 24 rims on it, moved the wheels way out, put on a ROPS from Bare-co, a modern seat, and a seat belt. I know some purist will be upset but I need to work with it and I'm fond of my family.

If the links don't work you can find it under 1956/57 To-35 in the tractor photos to the left.

Hi George;

I am considering installing a ROPS on my TO-35 and I was wondering if you had to fabricate or modify anything to install yours, if you had any difficulties and if you are generally satisfied with the quality and value etc. of the BareCo unit?
Thanks,

Roger

Roger,

I"m very satisfied. The quality was good and it went on in 15 minutes. Of course there is only one way to really determine the quality...

Hi George;
Thanks for the reply.
Hopefully, it'll never see a real test.
Take care,
Roger

Don't know about the seat belt - could be more of a liability than a help. Remember, if you turn that thing over, you'll likely need a knife or some assistance to release yourself. Depending on the circumstances, that may not be beneficial.

Pretty slick, George. This is the first Ferguson that I've ever seen in those colors.
Just curious, did Bareco have a bunch of disclaimers re: the liability in case of a ROPS Failure?

Bare-co did have the standard disclaimers. I don't even notice any more. I bought an ax last month. It had a huge sticker warning that it was sharp and could cause damage if swung with excessive force! I hope so.

I think the tractor colors are correct for those years - green body and gray tin. The rims are supposed to be silver and the center sections gray but I though the silver looked odd.

I still need a grill and lower front section but after the restoration I'm having a hard time justifying the money.

 Front bumper Re:Finished! ROPS on T0-35 in reply to George in Spokane, 05-06-2006 22:13:25
Really should get a front bumper for it especialy since no grill. They are worth there weight in raditors ;)). They are not expensive $75 to $100 and very usefull too for things a pulling from front were you want to see what you are doing. I also have a hand powered fence wire spool that just clamps to mine and a rock and junk box that mounts on it. If I find any junk or rocks when plowing I put them in the box. I Have them on all of my tractors.

Woodache, you're right. I want to fill the tires and then build this bumper like Mark Hendershot's.

 Ok That is a nice Re:Front bumper Re:Finished! RO in reply to George in Spokane, 05-07-2006 09:20:01
Ok That is a nice one. Since you are going to build it I Would incorperate a couple of things. 1. would put a pulling tab on it but instead of justt welding on make it so the tab will fold down. 2. add a couple stake pokets for installing various front attachments like my wire winder or box, even a possibility of a rail fo the addition of hang on suitcace weights. Make sure you keep the front smooth so if pushing with tractor nothing to hang up. I have a home made one on my H farmall to push forklifts with that is fixed so as to have a spot to bolt a piece of 2x6 wood for a cushion bumper. Also has a fold down arm that is only inches from the ground to roll a log with.
