I am looking at the SPAREX web site and they do not list a seat spring for the TO 35. Did the TO 35 use the seat spring with the original pan seat or was the seat bolted directly to the running gear with the flip-up bracket? I currently have an aftermarket seat bolted directly to the frame and my fat hiney gets a rough ride. Thanks for any help.

Bob I have a 1956 TO35 that is all original
with the flat pan style seat. It has the flip up hinge bracket that is mounted to a spring that is bolted to the 3 point lift cover. If you would like to see a picture send me your e-mail. Hope this helps. RFisherT1(at)aol(dot)com

Thanks for the comeback Rob. I finally got by the Ferguson dealer and he had some pictures to look at. The cost of the seat, spring, two hinges and two pins equals approximately what I spent to restore the entire tractor so I will put up with the aftermarket unsprung seat for a while. I appreciate your reply though.

The TO-35 Deluxe had the bucket seat with foam cushion and back rest. It was optional on the Special which had the pan seat as standard equipment.

But did the seat mount to the tractor on a spring or with the swing up bracket.

Thanks Paul. So as I understand it, there was no spring action in the seats on the TO 35. If they mounted to the tractor with the swing-up bracket, it had no spring. Is this correct? Just hard for me to beleive given all of the other technological advances that they put into these little tractors in that era.

Actually, the mounting bracket has a little give to it. Believe it or not, that seat was designed by Herman Klemm, the chief designer for the TO-35. He personally supervised the process and field tested it. He was not a small man so I guess he figured if the foam padded bucket seat was good for him it would be good for anyone. Ha.

I've had two tractors with that seat. If the foam cushions are relatively new with the original style - not the cheap aftermarket ones - they are reasonably comfortable.

I wonder if Herman Klemm had shares/stock in that seat bucket and cushion design because it finished up on most UK and US tractors, just a thought.
