Is there a source for the throttle rod from the dash to the front of the tractor? I dissassembled one this morning to repair the friction disk and am worried that the wear on the rod will eventually cause it to fail.

At one time in its life it appears the rod was hit and bent in towards the back of the engine between the air filter and the block casuing it to hit on the battery tray at certain points in its rotation. From other indications the original owner was not to mechanically inclined so probably just thought the extra stiction on the lever movement was a no cost option (grin)

Other than a wreckers yard no there isn't, you will understand that it was never a fast moving part so the chance of anyone having one is remote. You may get someone on here that has a secondhand one though, they are all the same TE's and TO's. Where is the wear on this rod..normally the only thing that does wear is the friction disc below the dash panel. You will need the information to reset the governor, if you need it email me. How did you go with the hydraulic system on your tractor, I never heard anymore from you.

Once I drained and cleaned the hydraulics she worked like a champ. Quadrant lever is adjusted almost to the forward stop to get the correct 2 1/2 spacing on lever movement but could not be happier. The throttle rod is worn about half through where it had been rubbing against the battery tray and I suppose any good MIG welder could build it up again at minimal cost. -Lee

I am glad to hear that the Hydraulics are ok now, I shouldn't worry too much about almost being right up to the forward stop, this is no doubt due to wear having taken place elsewhere in the linkage. As you say the long throttle rod could be repaired with a MIG welder. Unusual that it is catching the battery carrier though, is this carrier twisted at all to allow this as there should be plenty clearance. I think that although it is worn halfway through that the rod wont fail as the loading on it is very little.
