Hi all. Has anyone heard about a 3 cyl. crank with a chain sprocket on instead of a regular gear ?
I have come across some used and a few new parts from a man who repaired a lot of Ferguson and MF tractors. It is a lot of TE 20 parts, and some MF 35 and some MF 135 parts. But, then this strange crank was in the boxes too.

Bill, It sounds like it could be a Perkins P3 that we used to fit in the TE20.....John

Oh, I thought all Perkins had gears only. The chain sprocket is a 3 row sprocket. The crank is greased, as well as most of the other parts too... liners, engine bearings, hydraulic pump parts brand new in original MF boxes, a lot of used parts, taken from old Fergies in the old days when they were fairly new and not so worn, several diff. housings with gears on, I hope they have matching numbers with the pinions. Me and my cousin will collect the parts tomorrow. A P3 head and valve cover, front axle parts, TE 20 centerhousing, lower part of a steering box, gear box parts, a wooden crate full of Timken roller bearings, hey, have you seen a 4 year old in a candy store ? ... that was me yesterday.

ha ha ha Yes I can imagine you would be like a kid in a candy store, I have to admit I get like that over spare parts, I just love them..(is this perhaps a fetish?) to me there is just something about a load of spare parts, sorting them, numbering them and putting them on the stock control system. When I did it for a spell unfortunately it was a manual system and not computerised and it was a pain to do, I have also done it on a computer and it is magical punching the numbers in and watching them spew out usage and quantities in stock and what needs ordering....oh there I go again...Back to the P3 and the timing chain, yes the P3 did have a timing chain when they changed over to timing gears I don't know, they had a few smaller engines after the P3 but before the 3-152 for the 35's, so it must have been somewhere during that period (1956-59). From what you say there are some excellent parts in there and must be worth a lot of money.
