Hi Guys, I am finally stripping my tef20 and am just wondering - is it acceptable for me to spray the parts myself? They will be sprayed in my back yard with no protection from the elements. I am not looking for a show finish but I don't want to see the paint cracking (like egg shells) in a few months time. Any suggestions? Should I just prime them myself and then get a pro to spray them. Am I just worrying too much??? I am not even going to ask what is the correct paint colour!!! Thank you

Hi John,

Thanks for the info. Looks like you have been asked that question before!!

If I am ordering this, approx, would 8 tins be enough??? I don't mind ordering 9 tins if 8 will do but I don't want to order 15 if I don't need to.

Thanks again Arderra.

Depends on how many coats you want to apply, don't forget that you are spraying it on not using a brush so it doesn't use as much. The tins are litre sized so they are bigger than the normal pint size ones. I would think five is more than enough even allowing for two or three coats as you will use less on the second and third coats. Its a long time since I repainted one, maybe someone who has done one recently will have a more up to date idea of the quantity.

You can spray them quite easily without any problems, the paint wont flake or crack unless you mess around with too much thinners or whatever they use in it these days. You can get the correct shade of grey now from MF it is part number 3931028M5 and should be available from your local MF dealer, possibly to order only though, don't let them try to sell you any old rubbish, it will be in a 1 litre can and marked "Harry Ferguson Ltd-Vintage Ferguson Grey" it is the only factory assured correct shade of grey. Don't let them tell you that it isn't available, it is, they are just being lazy if they do, tell them to order some from Central Parts in Desford in UK or maybe they have a local parts warehouse in Ireland.
