Hood questions

My battery in my 54 TO-30 may be bad. I have a loader on and it looks to me like I have to take the loader off to get to the battery. Someone already cut a section out of the hood in order to put gas in without taking loader off. Looks like they may have made a hinged lid for it. I notice 8N's have a lid that giveees access. Was there an optional hood originally for tractors with a loader. I want to put it back as original as possible. But I don't want to have to take the loader off including the pump in order to tilt the hood. What do most people do if they have a loader?

They never made an alternative Hood for the tractor, the first one with a centre panel was the 35 series. Over here in the UK the radiator guards on the loaders usually tipped forward so you could open the hood, just why they didn't do that with the US loaders I can't imagine.

Thanks for the reply. I figured out that the front guard does tip down but that still doesn't help because the front pump is in the way anyhow. I may have to fashion a hood to use when the loader is on and one for when the loader is off and I want it to be as close to original as possible.

Thanks for all the help you are providing to everyone on the forum.

Thank you for your comments too. If you have a front pump possibly the only alternative is to remove the bottom part of the Tee piece to fit the pump, as it will need to mount it close to the tractor for strength and that would be in the way....John
