you dont need "special" ways of fastening the tractor to the trailer but you need to securely fasten it to the trailer so it does not fall off and kill someone, chains are used, some people use the 2" straps with ratcheting handles,{not the small cheap ones}I have been hauling for a long time and favor chains and binders,{I also use the straps, but find fine tuning with chains better} put from the front axle to the front corners of the trailer, and then the rear axle to the rear corners of the trailer, so they are pulling against each other, put the tractor in gear lock the brakes, put a safety chain in case the chain ever came loose,, from the front axle to the front of the trailer, make sure you have trailer enough to haul your tractor with your truck, trailer brakes are a neccasity with a tractor behind you especially on a long haul and a public highway, as far as weigh stations, it is my experience if you aint a big truck running coast to coast , which you aint you will be told to get the heck off his scales, Its your truck your trailer, your tractor , you dont have any dot numbers or state tags , you dont need to stop, just be safe and extra safe hauling if you have never done it before, the extra weight and lenght of a truck and trailer take getting used to to run safely, passing is longer, stopping is WAY longer , be careful and good luck
