my old grey fergy has a problem with the gearbox she is constantly in gear when i push the gear lever to start i have to depress the clutch to avoid her bump starting when i put her in reverse she binds up and stalls the bottom line is; no matter how much i move the gear stick; i can not get NEUTRAL

Have you checked that the selectors under the gear lever are all in line. From what you say I think that you may have a broken selector. Checking that the selectors are all in a line would prove this. Sometimes you can get the gear lever to jump out of the selectors, but that leaves it that you can't move into any other gear including the start position. The normal one to break is 1st and 2nd gear selector and this is due to rough operation. it mans that the box would have to be broken down to replace this selector.BareCo have these selectors part # B7085
