Norm, your tractor dealer is full of crap. A 12V coil won't work worth a darn on a 6V system. Even if your tractor does run, it will run poorly. Take the coil back, and don't talk to that yahoo that sold you the 12V coil again. Make sure all your wire connections are clean and shiny. A 6V system is more sensitive to corrosion that a 12V system. Oil- the original oil for your TO-20 engine was 30 wt. oil. You can't go wrong with that. Quite a few guys(including me) run modern multiweight, detergent oil. I happen to run 20W50, 'cause I run the same oil in my TO, and all my other veHicles. That's up to you, I rebuilt my engine a few years back and switched to multi-weight oil. Some guys say switching to modern, multi-weight, detergent oil is bad on an old engine, sludge build-up, etc. I don't really support that idea, if you want to run multiweight, that's your call. plug gap=.025" point gap=.020-.022" Autolite 386's or Champ. D16 work just super.
