The 51 TO-20 is running great, worked with a bushog for about 5 hrs this weekend everything operated great. I recieved the transmission/gearbox dipstick today and found the fluid level almost to the botom of the dipstick tube, way past full. Other than leaks from the seals(pto engagement lever and minor left axle seal, could this level be hiding any other problems? This Fergie was sitting in partial engine disassembly for almost 13 years, has been kept out of the weather. I changed the PTO shaft using the conversion, whereas in the process had to drain the fluid, which appeared no worse for time. I refilled the unit with the existing fluid and continued about business. I read in earlier posts that some pump noise is normal depending on wear, I feel this unit is within spec., some noise under load but nothing even close to bone chill'in. Fingertip control appears to work ok, noticed that small increments seems to work best to adjust the 3-pt with the bushog. The other concern is the ORC which I don't have. I have experienced the bushog driving the tractor due to cyntrifical force, as well as hard releasing of the transmission gears with the PTO engaged to the Bushog. I am concerned more about causing damage to the clutch, pump or other components. I am looking for recommendations on an ORC and advise since I do not want to cause expensive damage to my pride and joy. I intend to use it for farming, attached to a 515 Ford sicklemower, 850 JD ground propelled side delivery rake and a 425 NH self powered V-4 bailer. All comments welcomed.

To operate the Bush Hog on your tractor read the following information that was posted by Marlowe on here, he sells these Hogs so he knows what he is talking about:-
dear mister chapp. i have sold and serviced hogs for years and see this all the time. PLEASE don't take this wrong but it's a real common mistake that they are not beening mounted right.i know what your thinking how hard is it to put a hog on a tractor and go cut some grass? but!! your hog has a tail wheel right? your tractor has 2 lower lift arms right? set your hog on a 4x4 so it is level lower your tail wheel so it's on the ground. now put your tractor on but[[[[ DON'T]]] hook up the PTO with tractor running put the 3pt. control lever in the middle of the range and turn your top link so it will get longer and you will feel you 3pt. raise just a little and the stop but when you make the top link long it will raise a little more that because the control piston under the set is being pushed in and that makes you 3pt. lift untill the pressure is releasted.with a little fine tuning and a little setting of the tail wheel up or down for the height of cut you want your hog will cut at the height you want. if you have ANY questions call me i will help you set it right 1-920-446-3296 your hog should not be hanging on the tractor when your cutting but rideing on the tail wheel and the 3pt. at a set height and that is controled by your top link. good luck and if you need help call >END
So there you are, that should make it easier still for you, you need to make sure that the Control Spring will only just turn when you have the Hog lifted or it may not be able to control properley. Not having an ORC will not damage the tractor but it will if you run in to something due to the mower driving the tractor, so for safety's sake fit an ORC. make sure you get the correct shaft sizes.

The excess oil in the transmission area should be drained to the proper level. No real damage is of concern. Only potential is for oil to leak out the rear axils and get oil on the breaks.

Proper oil level is so that it just runs out the lowest bolt hole in the inspection plate when the bolt is removed.

Get the OCR. They run about $60.00 and are available at your local dealer, farm store, (TSC, etc) or on the internet. If you put in the new 1 3/8" PTO shaft then get a 1 3/8" to 1 3/8" OCR.
