I sure could use some 'knowhow' on correctly setting up the governer. If I set the governer rod to throttle rod adjustmentloose enough to allow for a 400rpm idle the governer is too enthusiastic and hunts significantly even after setting the limiter screw on the front of the left side of the timing cover. If I adjust the governer rod to only allow a low (idle) rpm of 800 the governer works perfectly. Since I am tired of attaching my arm to the hot manifold with the immediate hopping about (me) around the driveway doing the adjustments perhaps there is a better technique to fix this. Btw yes I do have and use the service manual :)

Is it a genuine Ferguson manual or an aftermarket one? When the engine "hunts" have you tried altering the slow-running jet to cancel this out. This carburettor was known need en-richening to stop it. It may also require the main jet adjusting too.
I do have the genuine Information from the factory if you need it to re-set the governor.
