Should grease be applied to the splines of the PTO / implements when coupling? - TED20

you could use antisizie on the splines as well this in not a lubicant but a coating to prevent parts from becoming locked together

Grease or oil will collect grit and cause wear to the shaft and coupling, but as Jim rightly says it does help prevent the coupling freezing to the shaft in extreme cold and usually when it is so cold there is little or no grit about anyway. This also applies to the ball ends on the lower and top links of the tractor. So under normal working conditions NO....under extreme cold conditions YES

I do apply it because I use a snowblower, and it helps prevent the shaft from freezing onto the pto.
It will also make it generally easier to couple and decouple - but this is not "official" - just personal view
