I was getting ready to put the head back on my tractor and realized that the parts they had sent included new valve guides, I decided what the heck I"ll install them. Only problem is I have no idea how to do so and my manual has indistinct photos using ferguson tool something or other. Any clues or hints how to do this ?

Don't change them just because you have them, place the valve in the guide and check for any side play, if you have visible play then they need to be changed or oil may be sucked down the guides. The guide should stand proud of the valve spring seats by 9/16". Make sure that you fit the Valve Springs correctly, the end with the extra coils goes to the Cylinder Head, the Springs should be renewed if they will compress to less than 1-1/4" with a load of 38lbs. Do not fit seals or oil retaining cups to the valves and guides on this engine. That tool you saw. just pulls the guides out. Long threaded part passes through the Head and the Valve Guide, the other part presses on the Head face, you turn the handle on the long threaded rod and the guide pulls out, to replace the guides you pull the guides in from the top side with the puller in the same position as you had it to pull them out.
