Nice job Jeff, do you have a drawing with deminsions for the box? Or where can I find them. I think this will make a nice box for carrying extra folks when going for a drive on the wood trails. My son is tired of standing on the rear bar and I dont like him sitting on the fenders on my TEA 2085

bdn...I do have some sketches, not sure how they'll read in a pic, but I'll try it.

Even if I had the measurments that would work for me. Its the width, length and height that I need.
Thanks Barney

bdn...see if you can read this:

The overall dimensions of the wood box are 34" wide x 48" long x 18" high(at its tallest point).

Thanks Jeff,
That is perfect, I am sure I will build one in the coming months, a good winter project, I also am going to build myself a tractor jack that works off the pto.

I want one too. I've been playing with a design, but was reluctant to extend it that far back. I was still thinking of using a top link connection, but obviously it works well enough without one. Once its off the tractor, can you send/post a pix of the framework?

Here's another approach, using the top link:

The frame is 3x3 angle iron, and I used oak for the floor. I think it's too heavy for shuffling around to hook up and if I were doing it again would scale down to 2x3, which I figure would bring the weight down by 50 pounds.

Dale...I'm a couple of hours away from it & will not be back out there for a couple of weeks, but here's a pic from when I was building it:

I shot these when only one of the two steel cradle frames were installed. They're the backbone of the box. The wood sides & floor of the box are carriage-bolted to the two frames.

Jeff,
Thats a nice looking box you made. The 8N looks great too. How did you attach the box to the top link? to keep the box from rotating? I assume that you have angle iron on the bottom, if ture, is it attached to the side pieces?

I, also, need to get/make one of these.

Thanks, Jeff

Jeff....the design of the box makes it heavy to the rear & the front of the box goes up under the lower links. That way its own weight holds it level. Here's a pic showing how it goes under the links:

If you put enough weight, all in front of the lift pins, it will tip forward. A small safety chain from the box to the tractor will prevent that too, however, I've never had need for it.

The wooden box is supported underneath the two U-shaped channel frames. You can see in the pic where the box is carriage bolted thru the sides & floor to one of the frames.

Thanks, it looks great.

Hey what is that caged in your seat spring? It looks like a soccer ball.

I call that my pneumatic seat spring assist, but yes, it's a mini soccer ball. It supports my, ahem, weight just fine now & made more leg room, but I didn't like the angle it put in the seat. Felt like sitting on a ramp, so I made a wooden wedge to level it up.
