Then I got to wondering. How much do I really Have in this stupid tractor?!~ uh maybe 2-3k that I know of and still need to spend prolly 800- 1000 more if it all goes right

So im wonder How much do you guys have into ur fergusons making em look nice and work like it too?

My old man bought the grey mare in 1952, paid $1350 for it , add in gas for 55 years, one engine overhaul, one rear diff, one rad job, oil and tires. It still has original starter, generator, transmission and front wheel bearings. Foy years it was the only tractor on our farm, it still pulls wagons and rakes hay. It don't owe me a thing and I owe it a whole lot of respect and thanks fro the years of hard work.

I paid ~$3000 for the tractor $45 in trans oil. $15 in engine oil ~$60 in gas. ($5 taurus light, $5 for tool box, $20 paint, $8 spark plugs, $15 mis. electric, $5 fuel tube) .... $3200.00

Operated about 60 hours.... mowing ~100 acres total. Ohio hiring rates for 2005.
Bush Hogging $/acre 10.00 7.00 - 25.00

Value received... $700 to $2500. not too bad.

Time enjoied taking tractor to shows and talking to other enthusiasts... Priceless.

$3,078.03 in US dollars encludes the purchase price and 37 years of being my "go to" tractor. Try to fix it right when I do have to fix and it runs a long time.

I picked up a 9N with a loader, barely running and came with a busted front axle as soon a sit rolled off the trailer. This set me back $1800.
I then spent another $1,000 plus a bit to make it a runner with brakes and steering. It still needs a bit more but the wife found a Fergy and had me take the loader off the 9N. So, here I sit with a pretty good running 9N plain jane with $2200+ wrapped up in it... (figuring the loader I kept valued at $600) It still needs work to make it a great machine and then the paint job could follow. How much do you want to spend? No, you will probably never see your money back.
Good luck!
Bruce

Some years ago I had it figured that I could fix my TO-30 and Farmall 300 for about $18-2000.
Ended up costing a little over $3000. And there was more to be done but they were serviceable.
