After 50 odd years of calcium filled tires the rims on my TO-20 are shot. I got a great deal on 12.4x28 tires I was told they are pretty much the same size as the 11x28 that are on it. My question I need to buy rims and was wondering how they fit and look on 9x28 rims as compared to 10x28 rims. If anyone has tried these combinations suggestions on looks and fit would be helpful when buying the new rims.
Thanks,
Oldgit

Ok I went out and checked they are 11x28 tires. I asked my fater and he dosent ever remembet them being changed. I think I will go with the 10 inch rims as they are quite easy to get around here Thanks for all your replys.

I have a 1954 TO30 it had goodyear 11-28 on it Im sere it came out with thay were wet and I put the 11.2-28 on it thay dont look much different than the 11-28 ,I did not like the 12.4-28 thay just look to big .most of the to20\to30 tractors came out on a 10-28 with a 11-28 oversize.the frount 400-19 or 600-16 in goodyear brand

I would bet these tires the 11.2's were either original(I find that hard to believe or purchased in the 60's. I cannot remember them ever being replaced as long I I was able to drive it.

The 11.2 size was not made till several years after your tractor was made so the orignal tire would have been the 10" so if you have 11.2 they are replacements.

12.4 is the new sizeing number for the 11-28 as mandated by the goverment and around here you will find only one width rim to fit your tractor so would have to take the only thing avaible and not worry about looks.

Bias ply tires circumference is affected by rim width. These tires will be taller and narrower when mounted on a 9" wheel as opposed to a 10" wheel. Are your current tires 11-28 or actually 11.2-28? 11.2-28 was the replacement for 10-28.
I would reccomend that the 12.4s be mounted on 10" wheels to take avantage of the wider tire.
