I know this topic has been discussed many times, but I am still having trouble finding a way to mount a 12V alternator to my 1950 TO20. The kits shown on the antique tractor parts page are only for the TO-30 and up, and won't work on the TO20. Went to a machine shop and a blacksmith, but they didn't want to mess with it. Is there anything out there designed specifically for the TO20?

There are two stubs about 1.5" in diameter that come out of the right side of the engine. Is there anything behind them in the engine or can I use them to mount a new bracket?

Hi John. I did a similar thing as Paul. The only difference on the top piece is that I cut a section out of it where it would interfere with the governor rod and mounted a piece that jumped over it.
As for the bottom part, I used a universal conversion bracket bought through ebay.
Here it is:>Link
Worked>Link good for me.

You can buy a to-30 kit but you will still have to make the mounting brackets. When I did my to-20 I used the mounting boss on the block to mount a bracket I made out of 1/4 by 1 1/
2 steel strap. Then made the top bracket out of 1/4 by 3/4 steel strap which had to be bent over the governor to carb rod. Looks good and works good.
