Good tips from Mike on manuals. The normal tuneup options when necessary and of course regular oil changes. One basic item would be to keep it under cover, or at least keep water from going down the gear shift into the tranny and rear reservoir, and also keep water from going down the steering shaft onto the steering bearings.

phil...good tip. i keep my tractors in "the dry" so i didn't even think of that one. but it's true, if your boots are old and dry or cracked water can get down inside your gearbox.

ben...i suggest that if you don't already have at least an owners manual that you seek one out and purchase it. it will have lots of info about maintenance for you. if your tractor is already a "good runner", regular maintenance is the best way to keep it runniing well.

if you plan to do your own mechanical work, also purchase a shop manual. a parts manual is also helpful as it will give you pictures and breakdowns of each part.

after that, if you have questions or problems, this forum is one of the most helpful tools i've found. there are highly informed and skilled people here that are more than willing to help you out.
