Guys, is there any way other than the serial number plate on the steering wheel housing to determine the year a TO-30 was built?

Thanks

Here is something that I put together to help identify and correlate tractor years and engine serial number. We all know that the Z129 engine numbers were not exactly serially installed in the TO-30, but from the graph, it is close enough to tell if you are not near the changeover at the year end. As an approximation, subtract 240,000 from your engine number to get Tractor Serial Number. The data is from the tractor registery on this site with all obvious omissions and mistakes eliminated..

Nice chart! I went out to check the numbers on my (currently) non-running TO-30. They correspond to your formula of engine# - 240000 = serial#. In case you want to add my tractor's numbers to your database, they are:

Engine: Z129-320074
Serial: TO-80236

Thanks for the help. I bought this tractor about ten years ago, the man I bought it from had the steering column switched out, so I have never known what year it is. I do know it is a great little tractor.
