I have a 1949 TO-20 and I'd like to improve the sheet metal that came with the tractor. The lower section of the grill is missing, the sides are not too bad and there are tears and metal fatigue evident on the hood where it attaches to the sides. Any leads would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, David

I have a Harry Ferguson tractor. I thought there was TO-30 and TE-30 tractors. I guess mine is a TO 30 corect?

Wade: Hi. I am not an expert in these tractors, but TE stands for Tractor England (made in England) and TO for Tractor Overseas (made in USA). The following website should help you determine the year and model>Link

I>Link believe the serial number plates on both TEs and TOs were on the front cowl just above or below the steering wheel. Good luck, David

I could not read what it said on that plate above the steerinr wheel. I found a tag on the block that had a serial number that reads 118195. Do you think that is the right number? Is that an indication that it was made in 1953?

Wade: My information suggests that using the block numbers is unreliable, as over the life of the tractor the motor may have been replaced. That being said, look for additional markings on the block, such as Z120, Z129, etc. The TE's and TO's had Continental Z engines. The TEA's had Standard engines. Look up and read some of the links, discussions on this web page--there is some info that I just don't recall at this time.

The serial number plate above your steering column should have raised numbers on it. Try taking a piece of paper or onion skin and see if rubbing a pencil lightly over it will reveal anything. You could also spray a light coat of paint on it (mask it off), let the paint dry and then use a fine abrasive to remove the paint from the high points (could use a fine wet sandpaper (600 grit) on a block). Good luck, David

You are going to want to have position (height) control for the hydraulic lift on that tractor I'll bet when you start trying to use it. See the attached link below.

Zane: I have seen your ads. While my curiosity is peaked, the information is so sparse that unless I see a picture or have additional information, I will not be placing an order. I have used my tractor successfully for the past 5+ years and have not had much difficulty with position control. Please send me additonal information. Thanks, David

Ray: Thanks for the lead. Quality Farm did have some sheet metal for a TO-20 or TO-30. I found a couple of other locations that have TE/TO sheet metal and parts:

Anderson Tractor: 1-800-603-8141, located in Ohio

and Fawcett Tractor Supply: 1-800-372-7149, located in St Marys Ontario.
