I just purchased a 1949 Ferguson TE20 that supposed to need a head gasket(getting coolant in oil)it wasnt head gasket, someone overheated it to make the block crack between the cylinders,Ive been looking for a block for this tractor around my home town with no luck, its a continental engine with overhead valves.I hope someone can help. Thanks!

I recently had a TO30 block pinned for about $200, or maybe a little less, if I remember correctly.

Ron
It's not uncommon for Continental engines to crack between the cylinders. If the cracks haven't traveled to far down toward the main bearings the block can be pinned. This consists of drilling through the block from side to side between the cylinders and putting bolts through. The Z120 on my TO-20 has been pinned and doesn't leak a bit.
Just an option in case you can't find a block.

Ron: Yesterday I spoke with Brian at Fawcett Tractor Supply (St Marys, Ontario) They have quite a few TE parts and they were in the process of examining a TE engine. Call them at 1-800-372-7149. They may have what you need.

I have also found that Schmidt Machine (Ohio) seems to be well connected as far as doing a search for what you are looking for. Call Jeff at 1-800-589-3814. Good luck, David

This is my TO 20 that I bought in 1963. It had been frozen and was cracked between the cylinders at the bottom. I drove lead into the cracks, reinstalled the sleeves with new seals and added some Bar's leak. That was 37 years ago and it is still plugging along. Same antifreeze for the most part!

Ron,
If there is a Central Tractor in your area Check with them. I don't have the catalog in front of me but I'm sure they have rebuilt blocks for continentals.
Good luck
