Where can I get the fiber (fiberglass?) thrust "washer" that goes between the back side of the front main bearing... The machine shop said that he didn't know where to get one..... The "funny" thing is, the main bearing kit came with two (sealed together in a single bag) metal front thrust washers... I think that one could be used in place of the rear fiber washer but it would need to be staked to the main bearing cap like the front.... Anyone have any insight here?? Jim

Jim, my parts manual doesn't show any "fiber" thrust washers. Just an inner and outer thrust washer and shims to set the clearance. I think the OEM thrust washer that originally came with the tractor was a fiber(not fiberglass) washer because the Shop manual refers to a fiber thrust washer. I think for service use they went to a bronze(?) set of washers with shims. The part nmbers are as follows: inner thrustwasher,# 1 750 341 M1, outer thriust washer, #15 285, 0.002 " thust shim, #15 283, 0.004" thrust shim, #15 284 outer thrust washer pin #15 240. The pin indexes the thrust washer set to the Crankshaft thrust plate, # 1 750 279 M1, I believe.
George Shadel did his engine a few years ago and I rwemember him asking some questions about the thrust washers so he might be a good source of info since he had hands on experience with this. Hope this helps.

Maybe it has been replaced by bronze... I'll look at mine more closely... They both certainly looked the same inside the cellophane, but it does seem like (since they were packaged together) putting two in the package was deliberate.... The inner one that came out of the engine is fiber.. I was just expecting the same to go back in... I'll look tonight... Jim
