Remember the lift is only good for 750-800 Lbs. You most likely have a leak in the system. Pull the right side cover off, start the tractor and make sure the PTO is connected. Move the lift lever up to the lift positionand using a flashlight, look up toward the cylinder for a leak.(DO NOT PLACE YOUR HANDS IN THE HYDRAULIC PUMP CHAMBER.)Anything greater then a few drops is not normal. SOmetimes the rings get worn, the cylinder gets scored, or is cracked or the piston gets bound up. Using a mirror, look at the right front corner of the pump chamber and there is a tube that goes up tot the lift cover. Makes sure it's not leaking. If your relief valve is open it will be making a lot of noise and there will be a lot of turbulence around the pump. Move the control lever up and down and observe that the linkage is moving smoothly. Finally, shut the motor off and make sure the control fork is attached to the control valve. Usually leakage is the major culprit, but a stuck open relief valve or a stuck control valve could also be the problen as could the control fork/linkage not being connected.
